2.
Cooking with your stainless steel cookware set
Stainless steel
cookware has many positive qualities
and can be used for many if not all cooking purposes when seasoned and used
correctly. However, many people look for alternative options due to food
sticking or burning when not heated properly.
The trick to preventing foods from sticking to your stainless
steel cookware is to heat the pan before adding the oil. Steel expands with
heat and then contracts when it comes in contact with a cold surface, which is
why food sticks. When you add the oil to the hot pan it becomes static causing
it to become a temporarily non-stick surface.
To check if your stainless cookware is at the right
temperature, add a drop of water to the pan. If hot enough it will stay in a
single ball and roll around your pan. Make sure to adjust the heat as required
once you have added your ingredients.
3.
Take care of your stainless steel cookware
Stainless steel cookware can go in the dishwasher! A big
bonus of stainless steel is that it is typically dishwasher safe and will not
be affected by dishwasher detergent or high temperatures.
If washing by hand, let your pots and pans
soakin hot soapy water and do not use steel wool, scouring pads or harsh
chlorine detergents. These may cause scratches and marks that cannot be
removed.
To remove stubborn dried food from your stainless steel
cookware simply fill your pan with soapy hot water, bring the water to the boil
and scrape the dried food off (without burning yourself). Once the water cools
down you will be able to wipe it away easily.
To prevent water spots on your cookware set
after washing, rinse in hot water and then dry with a clean towel immediately.
You can also polish your stainless steel with baking soda for
an extra shine.
